Pork Snout
A Chewy Cut Built From Connective Tissue.
Our Pork Snouts are a tough, cartilage-rich cut that adds natural collagen and glucosamine to your pet's rotation.
A pig's snout is a muscular disc of skin, cartilage, and connective tissue that pigs use for rooting through the ground, which is why it is so dense and chewy compared to a typical cut of meat. That texture makes it a satisfying addition for dogs and cats that like something to work on, and it slows down fast eaters. Snouts can also be simmered alongside bones to add body and gelatin to homemade bone broth. Like to make treats at home? These are an excellent item to dehydrate for your pet. Prefer a shelf-stable option that is already made? We also carry a dehydrated pork snout.
Raw Feeding Fact
Pork has a lingering reputation as a risky meat to feed raw, largely because of Trichinella, a parasite that was once common in pigs fed raw scraps. Modern commercial hog farming has made it extremely rare in the United States, but some raw feeders still freeze pork for a few weeks before feeding as an inexpensive extra precaution. If you are new to pork, introduce it gradually, since it tends to be richer than chicken or turkey.
