Heritage Poulet Rouge®. Pasture-Raised. Ideal for Beginners.

Our Chicken Breast is cut into boneless, skinless pieces of lean white meat, sourced from Joyce Farms' Heritage Poulet Rouge® chicken.

This chicken is hormone and antibiotic free and not enhanced. The birds are pasture-raised after the first six weeks, with access to roam outdoors and shelter as needed, and the program is rated Step 4 under the Global Animal Partnership's 5-Step Animal Welfare Rating Program. Being lean and mild, it's an ideal protein for pets new to raw feeding. It should be fed as boneless muscle meat, making up roughly 80% of a complete raw diet. It pairs well with several of our raw food base mixes.

Raw Feeding Fact

Heritage Poulet Rouge® chickens are a French heritage breed, bred to grow at a naturally slower rate than the conventional broilers used in most commercial chicken, often taking close to twice as long to reach market weight. That slower growth allows for more developed muscle and bone structure by the time the bird is processed, which is part of why heritage breed poultry is often prized for a firmer texture and more robust flavor than fast-growing broiler breeds. It's a meaningful difference in the meat itself, beyond the welfare certification alone.
