The 4x4 Rawhide Chew with Fur is the fur-on version of our popular plain square, cut from the skin of grassfed and finished cattle. Never treated with bleach, chemicals, or preservatives. Each piece is handmade, which means color and thickness will vary from square to square. That is simply the nature of a real, unprocessed product. The fur is a natural fiber and will pass through the body naturally.
Raw Feeding Fact
The keratin protein found in animal fur is unusually rich in cystine, a sulfur-containing amino acid that serves as a direct precursor to cysteine. In cats specifically, cysteine is one of three amino acids required to synthesize taurine, which cats cannot produce in adequate amounts on their own. While fur is not a meaningful standalone taurine source, the cystine it provides contributes to the overall sulfur amino acid pool that supports taurine synthesis. This is one reason whole-prey feeding advocates have long pointed to fur and feathers as nutritionally purposeful rather than incidental parts of a carnivore’s diet.
